In 1986, Mike Cutting, John Hartigan and Gene Sword pioneered the concept of real estate outsourcing and laid the foundation for what has become one of the most successful and long-lasting relationships in retail real estate, the Costco Wholesale-NWAP II Inc. relationship. While others have tried to emulate this, none have perfected retail real estate outsourcing like Northwest Atlantic.

In 1993, David Firestein, opened Northwest Atlantic Real Estate Services to serve retailers in the Northeast. Under David’s direction Northwest Atlantic has become recognized as the frontrunner in retail real estate brokerage in the tri-state area and has cornered the retail market in Manhattan. We have opened over 200 units for Starbucks Coffee Company since the early 90s. In addition, we have played an active role in the changing character of the 42nd Street/Times Square area in New York by negotiating with the City of New York on behalf of AMC Theaters for the redevelopment of the Empire Theater. AMC and Northwest Atlantic made the national news as the Empire Theater was hoisted onto railway tracks and relocated down the block. The AMC Empire 25 is the highest grossing theater in the world. Continuing to change the New York landscape, Northwest Atlantic secured the location in the Time Warner Center for Whole Foods. The Time Warner Center Whole Foods is the largest supermarket in Manhattan.

Over the last seventeen years Northwest Atlantic has expanded from a west coast operator to a continental brand that retailers recognize and trust. Through providing unparalleled service, we have earned the loyalty of such retailers as: Costco Wholesale, Starbucks Coffee Company, Safeway/Vons, Whole Foods and Washington Mutual, to name a few.
